Diamond By The Yard Necklaces

Diamond by the yard is a specific idea. Not a pendant, not a cluster, not a tennis necklace. Individual diamonds, each in its own small setting, placed at measured intervals along a fine gold chain. The chain moves, the diamonds catch light independently, and the effect is something no other necklace format quite replicates.

The term was coined by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany in the 1970s, but the format has become one of the most enduring in fine jewelry precisely because the logic behind it is so sound. A single continuous piece of jewelry that reads differently depending on how it falls, how the light hits it, how many times it is layered. A diamond by the yard necklace at 16 inches worn alone is one thing. The same necklace layered with two others is something completely different.

Every diamond by the yard necklace here is crafted from solid 14k and 10k gold. The diamonds are conflict-free, bezel-set or prong-set at precise intervals along a fine chain. Nothing plated, nothing that changes over time. The Alinéa Diamond By The Yard and Floating Diamond By The Yard offer the same format with lab grown diamonds for those who want an ethical alternative without compromising on quality or appearance.

For layering alongside these pieces, diamond station necklaces and dainty gold necklaces provide the right complement. For the same diamond by the yard format on the wrist, diamond by the yard bracelets sits alongside this collection. Yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold. Solid 14k and 10k gold throughout. Nothing between the diamonds and the light.
