Marina Mirror Chain

Why is it called Marina?
Marina is the Greek word for the harbour, and this is the chain our goldsmiths have always called marina, after the anchor chains that run off the bow of every fishing boat on our coast. Each link is pressed flat, what we call patiti in Greek, and polished until it shines like a small mirror. It is the sea we grew up beside, made small enough to wear every day.

How does it sparkle without stones?
Every link is a flat, mirror polished surface turned at a slightly different angle from the one beside it. As you move, a different link catches the light each moment, so the whole length flickers the way sun moves across water in a harbour. There are no stones and no coating; the light comes from the gold itself.

Is this chain solid gold?
Yes. Every link and the clasp are solid 14k yellow gold, never plated, filled or hollow. At about 1.5 grams it has real weight on the skin, and because the polish is in the gold itself, it will not wear through, tarnish or turn your skin green. It is handcrafted in our Athens workshop by goldsmiths continuing over 70 years of family tradition.

How do I wear it?
On its own at the collarbone it reads like a line of light. It also layers beautifully with a finer chain like our Fine Cable Chain or the Lumière Sparkle Chain, and sits easily above a solitaire such as the Marquise or Grand Oval diamond necklaces. Wear it daily; take it off for the pool and the sea, where chlorine and salt are hard on any gold alloy.
