Is this chain solid gold or plated?
Solid 14k yellow gold, every link, the extender and the spring ring clasp, never plated, filled or vermeil. A sparkle chain lives or dies by its facets, and plating wears off the edges of a facet first, which is why plated versions go dull within months. Solid gold keeps its cut for life. It is handcrafted in our Athens workshop by goldsmiths continuing over 70 years of family tradition.

What is a sparkle chain?
A chain whose links are cut with flat facets on a diamond cutting wheel after they are formed, so each link has small mirror faces angled in different directions. Light catches a different face with every movement and the whole length flickers, which is why it is also called a diamond cut or margarita chain. There are no stones in it; the sparkle is the gold itself.

Is it strong enough for every day?
Yes. Most sparkle chains sold online are hollow or under a gram and come with a warning to handle them with care; this one is 1.9 grams of solid 14k gold at 1.1 to 1.2mm wide, close to twice the weight of our Fine Cable Chain. Wear it daily, sleep in it, shower in it. Take it off for the pool and the sea, since chlorine and salt are hard on any gold alloy, and avoid pulling on it when you fasten the clasp.

How long is it and can I adjust it?
The chain is 16 inches with a 2cm extender, so it sits at the collarbone on most necks and can be let out to just under 17 inches. That is the length that works alone, sits above a pendant necklace in a stack, and clears most necklines. If you need it longer, our Necklace Chain Extender adds 1 to 5 inches in matching 14k gold.

Is there a matching bracelet?
Yes. The Lumière Sparkle Chain Bracelet is the same diamond cut chain at 7 inches with its own extender, cut from the same gold in the same workshop, so the two read as one line of light at the collarbone and the wrist. The necklace also layers over a smooth chain like our Fine Cable Chain or Box Chain at a longer length, and takes a small pendant, though it is at its best worn bare.
