Oval Bezel Lab Diamond Stud Earrings, White Gold

Which size should I choose?
At 0.25 ct each the ovals are quiet enough for a second piercing or for someone who has never worn diamonds before. At 0.50 ct each they are the everyday stud: noticed when she turns her head, never loud. At 0.75 ct each they are the size people see from across a table, and at 1.00 ct each the gold rim and the long shape make them read larger than a one carat round. The gallery shows all four side by side at true scale, and two of the photos show them on the ear with each size labelled, so you can compare before you choose.

Bezel or prong: what is the difference?
A prong setting holds the diamond with four small gold claws and lets the most light reach the stone from the sides. A bezel wraps the diamond in a smooth wall of gold: nothing sticks out to snag on hair, knitwear or a pillow, the edge of the stone is protected, and the gold rim adds a thin frame that makes the oval look a little larger. Choose the bezel if you want studs you never think about, and the prong if you want the most open, airy look; we make both in the same four sizes.

Are the diamonds real?
Yes. They are lab grown diamonds, chemically, physically and optically the same as mined diamonds; a jeweler with a loupe sees a diamond, because it is one. We select every stone at E to G color and VVS2 clarity or better, the range where the eye reads pure white light with nothing inside it. The stones are not sent to an outside grading lab; your pair arrives with the ENEA Studio certificate of authenticity stating the carat weight, color, clarity and gold.

Can I wear them every day and to sleep?
Yes. The bezel, the posts and the backs are solid 14k gold, never plated, so they will not tarnish, fade or turn your skin green, and with no claws there is nothing to catch on clothes or bedding. Check that the push backs sit firmly now and then, as with any stud, and take them off for the pool and the sea, where chlorine and salt are hard on any gold alloy.

Why is there only one pair of each size?
Because we make them in small numbers at our Athens workshop, and we match the two stones of each pair by eye. We keep one finished pair of every size ready to ship. If the size you want shows sold out, choose notify me: the next pair takes us one to two weeks to set and polish, and you will hear from us the day it is ready.
