Oval Lab Diamond Stud Earrings

Which size should I choose?
At 0.25 ct each the ovals are quiet enough for a second piercing or for someone who has never worn diamonds before. At 0.50 ct each they are the everyday stud: noticed when she turns her head, never loud. At 0.75 ct each they are the size people see from across a table, and at 1.00 ct each the long shape makes them read larger than a one carat round. The gallery shows all four side by side at true scale, and two of the photos show them on the ear with each size labelled, so you can compare before you choose.

Are the diamonds real?
Yes. They are lab grown diamonds, chemically, physically and optically the same as mined diamonds; a jeweler with a loupe sees a diamond, because it is one. We select every stone at E to G color and VVS2 clarity or better, the range where the eye reads pure white light with nothing inside it. The stones are not sent to an outside grading lab; your pair arrives with the ENEA Studio certificate of authenticity stating the carat weight, color, clarity and gold.

Why an oval instead of a round?
Weight for weight, an oval shows a slightly larger face than a round, and its length makes it look larger still, so the same carat simply looks like more diamond on the ear. Set north to south, the shape follows the line of the jaw and the neck instead of sitting as a single dot. It is also a quiet echo of the oval engagement ring, which is why so many people buy these for themselves or to match a ring they already love.

Can I wear them every day?
Yes. The setting, the claws and the posts are solid 14k gold, never plated, so they will not tarnish, fade or turn your skin green, and four claws hold each diamond securely through daily wear. Check that the push backs sit firmly now and then, as with any stud, and take them off for the pool and the sea, where chlorine and salt are hard on any gold alloy.

Why is there only one pair of each size?
Because we make them in small numbers at our Athens workshop, and we match the two stones of each pair by eye. We keep one finished pair of every size ready to ship. If the size you want shows sold out, choose notify me: the next pair takes us one to three weeks to set and polish, and you will hear from us the day it is ready.
